Tiny Frogs

When the storms and hurricanes were around our area we had a lot of rain. Along with the rain came these tiny frogs--in droves.

This frog is on the leaf of our hibiscus plant. See how small it is?

Besides sitting on leaves, the frogs climbed on our window screens. We also found them hopping around INSIDE our house. (Usually they'd end up dead--dried up and shriveled.)

Catch Me I'm Falling

Jason had some fun taking pictures of Leiohu sitting on the couch. She can't really sit up unassisted yet so here she is in the process of

9/30 Leiohu's 3 Months

Tuesday, September 30, 2008

Leiohu is 3 months today! Time is flying by. Leiohu starting rolling over! She has rolled over before, but it was by accident and random. Now she seems to be catching on to what she's supposed to do.

Anuhea took some pictures of Leiohu to mark her 3rd month.

We had a cake to celebrate Leiohu turning 3 months & because Jason's birthday is tomorrow.
Mmmmm!

9/23 Drawing Club

Tuesday, September 23, 2008

Nalani was one of a group of students chosen to be in the Drawing Club at her elementary school. They meet after school once a week, and learn about drawing. They also draw and do other fun things. Nalani was so excited to get into the club. She's also excited to draw and improve her drawing ability.

9/17 Happy Bouncing

Wednesday, September 17, 2008

Leiohu has become accustomed to sitting/lying on her bouncer while we eat in the kitchen. That's the easiest way for her to join us without someone having to carry her and since she can't yet sit up in a high chair.

Leiohu looks at the toys dangling from her bouncer bar.

When Leiohu kicks her feet, music plays depending on which part of the keyboard she kicks.

Here's Leiohu's reaction to the music that started playing and the toys bobbing as she bounced.

9/16 Leiohu's doctor visit

Tuesday, September 16, 2008

Leiohu missed her 2 month check up because of mix-ups with our insurance. Today I took her to the doctor even though she's already 2-1/2 months. Sadly, she screamed as soon as the doctor started to check her out and throughout the check-up. I got Leiohu to calm down while we waited for the nurse.

Leiohu needed to get her 2 month immunizations and got 3 shots--2 in one leg and 1 in the other leg. Poor baby! She was not happy about those shots. She screamed again. Fortunately, I was able to comfort her quickly enough, and she fell asleep on the way home.

Leiohu weighs 12 pounds 3 ounces. She is 25 inches long. Her head circumference is 15-1/2 inches.

9/14 Primary Sacrament Program

Sunday, September 14, 2008

The children participated in the Primary Sacrament Program in our Ward in church today. They only practiced for 2 Sundays and had another practice yesterday morning. The program was very nice. The theme this year is "I Am a Child of God". Each of our daughters did a great job with their parts. (We wished Nalani would have smiled more.) The songs were all done well, and the children were all so cute.

9/13 Moon Festival

Saturday, September 13, 2008

To celebrate the Moon Festival we went to a dinner with the Taiwanese Association. Their dinners are always so far away on the West side of Orlando, so we went from Chinese School. The food was SO-OOO good! Many people contribute the food and they made delicious dishes.

9/11 Patriot Day

Thursday, September 11, 2008

It's Patriot Day--the day to honor and remember those who died on September 11, 2001. Strange how I heard nothing about it, especially since I didn't get to watch the Today Show.

9/8 Keeping Cool

Monday, September 8, 2008

Our air conditioner was having a problem. Then we got someone to come check it out who said it needed freon. Well, we've still been having problems. Today we finally got the air conditioner fixed. Yeah! The guys put in a new unit and took 4 hours to install it! I'm glad I'm not doing that job.

Tropical Storm Hannah was a possibility to hit Florida and passed by without damage to us. We're glad about that.

Hurricane Ike was likely to come straight for Florida. It was classified as a category 4 hurricane. Fortunately, it took a different path.

PHEW!

9/6 Chinese School

Saturday, September 6, 2008

Chinese School started today. We're back to the Saturday drudge of waiting for the children all afternoon. Jason won't always be going with me because he spends a lot of time studying at school.

Anuhea's in the 8th grade Chinese class, Nalani's in the 6th grade Chinese class, and Hokulani's in the 1st grade Chinese class.

Anuhea & Nalani wanted to do the 3-D Origami cultural class, but they don't like the kind of origami the new teacher is doing (it's not 3-D) so they're not taking any cultural class. Hokulani loves dancing so she's still in the Chinese Folk Dance class.

8/31 Air Conditioning Troubles

Sunday, August 31, 2008

Our air conditioner is on the fritz. I thought maybe something was wrong with it, but wasn't sure. It's hard to tell since our house is usually somewhat warm because of the temperature setting Jason likes to keep it on. Well--after church we discovered that the air conditioner truly wasn't working. The house wasn't getting cool.

Our landlady had her son put in a window unit in our master bedroom. Thank goodness! Unfortunately, it's miserable anywhere else in the house. The children were excited to be able to sleep in our room though.

8/30 Leiohu's 2 months!

August 30, 2008

Leiohu's 2 months old. She is growing quickly. She's learning how to lift her neck while on her stomach and is doing a great job.

Leiohu's 24 inches! Her head circumference is 15 inches. Wow!

8/30 Pre-Labor Day Fun

August 30, 2008

Our family got together with the Batterman family from our Ward at church. We went to their house. The children played, Jason and Chris barbecued meat, and we had a wonderful dinner all together.

We took our Wii machine with us to the Batterman's house, and the children had fun playing. We have only the Sports disc that came with the machine, but it's still fun. Here are some pictures.

Hokulani watches Adda & Nalani play Wii. Leahra & Gavin are watching too.

It's Nalani's turn to bowl. . .STRRR-IKE!

Adda's at bat (for baseball). . .HOME RUN!

Chris Batterman takes a turn against his daughter, Adda, while everyone else watches.

Gavin rides his toy & Hokulani tries to avoid having her picture taken.

8/23 Chinese School Delay

August 23, 2008

Chinese school was supposed to begin today, but didn't. With the potential hurricane and flooding in some areas, the Principal (Hsu) decided to delay the first day of school until September 6th. (There's no Chinese school next week either because of the Labor Day weekend.)

Were we happy? Yes! We're not really anxious to spending our Saturday afternoons in Winter Park. However, the weather in Winter Park (and Oviedo, where we live) was such that school didn't really need to be postponed. The weather was nice.
