Blow that Horn!

Nalani has entered the middle school realm and has joined the ranks as a band member. She chose the TROMBONE and loves it! I thought she was crazy to choose such a big instrument (especially since I'm partial to smaller instruments--the flute). However, when I heard her blow into various instruments at the band camp during the summer, I thought she could play anything. Now I don't mind the trombone because Nalani enjoys it so much and is progressing well.

Nalani participated in her second band concert on October 28, 2010 (the first was at the band camp during the summer). She was very excited, and although they're only beginning band players and are still limited as to what they can play, the concert was nice (and short--half an hour long).

Nalani is also teaching Leiohu to play brass instruments. She has taught Leiohu how to "buzz" her lips, and Leiohu can blow into the trombone! Amazing.

Fashion Show

On September 22, 2010 Nalani and Hokulani participated in a fashion show. It was just for church, but it was fun anyway.

For the Girl's Activity Days Recognition Night, all of the girls in the Oviedo Ward ages 8-11 participated in the fashion show. The purpose was to show different clothes that are modest you can wear for different occasions. Nalani got school clothes and Hokulani got party wear.

Here they are on the runway!

Jason celebrates another birthday

It has been a long time since I've posted anything here. I usually have good intentions to blog about something that happened in our family, and then I get caught up on Facebook.

Anyway, Jason celebrated his 44th birthday in October. He was stressed as usual about school and working on his dissertation, but he was in good spirits at his mini birthday party (aka celebrating with the family).

Now that Jason is teaching classes at UCF, he likes to dress up so he'll look more professional and respectable. With that in mind we gave him clothes. Jason got some new dress shirts and socks. Later, we went shopping for more dress shirts and a new tie. He looks great!

Happy Birthday, Jason!
