Chinese School started today. We're back to the Saturday drudge of waiting for the children all afternoon. Jason won't always be going with me because he spends a lot of time studying at school.
Anuhea's in the 8th grade Chinese class, Nalani's in the 6th grade Chinese class, and Hokulani's in the 1st grade Chinese class.
Anuhea & Nalani wanted to do the 3-D Origami cultural class, but they don't like the kind of origami the new teacher is doing (it's not 3-D) so they're not taking any cultural class. Hokulani loves dancing so she's still in the Chinese Folk Dance class.

8/31 Air Conditioning Troubles
Sunday, August 31, 2008
Our air conditioner is on the fritz. I thought maybe something was wrong with it, but wasn't sure. It's hard to tell since our house is usually somewhat warm because of the temperature setting Jason likes to keep it on. Well--after church we discovered that the air conditioner truly wasn't working. The house wasn't getting cool.
Our landlady had her son put in a window unit in our master bedroom. Thank goodness! Unfortunately, it's miserable anywhere else in the house. The children were excited to be able to sleep in our room though.

8/30 Pre-Labor Day Fun
August 30, 2008
Our family got together with the Batterman family from our Ward at church. We went to their house. The children played, Jason and Chris barbecued meat, and we had a wonderful dinner all together.
We took our Wii machine with us to the Batterman's house, and the children had fun playing. We have only the Sports disc that came with the machine, but it's still fun. Here are some pictures.

Hokulani watches Adda & Nalani play Wii. Leahra & Gavin are watching too.

It's Nalani's turn to bowl. . .STRRR-IKE!

Adda's at bat (for baseball). . .HOME RUN!

Chris Batterman takes a turn against his daughter, Adda, while everyone else watches.

Gavin rides his toy & Hokulani tries to avoid having her picture taken.

8/23 Chinese School Delay
August 23, 2008
Chinese school was supposed to begin today, but didn't. With the potential hurricane and flooding in some areas, the Principal (Hsu) decided to delay the first day of school until September 6th. (There's no Chinese school next week either because of the Labor Day weekend.)
Were we happy? Yes! We're not really anxious to spending our Saturday afternoons in Winter Park. However, the weather in Winter Park (and Oviedo, where we live) was such that school didn't really need to be postponed. The weather was nice.
